Abstract

Notes that fifty years earlier a special issue devoted entirely to Victorian periodical literature would not have been possible; however, new references and growing interest have led to the creation of a new literary specialty now recognized as a vital part of the legacy of Victorian prose. Claims the essays chosen for this issue reflect the diversity and range of subject matter to be found in periodical literature.
