Review of Andrew Cunningham and Nicholas Jardine, eds., Romanticism and the Sciences (1990); and Adrian Desmond, The Politics of Evolution: Morphology, Medicine and Reform in Radical London (1989)
Abstract
Contrasts the widely differing approaches taken by Desmond in his assessment of the development of the study of anatomy with that of editors Cunningham and Jardine. Finds the latter volume enlightening for its diversity of approaches to examining the place of science within the broader context of Romanticism.
