Parenthood and Politics: Reflections on the Shared Values of Matthew Arnold and Eleanor Arnold
Abstract
Discusses ways in which Arnold influenced his daughter’s upbringing in an attempt to explain how Eleanor Arnold could have married Armine Wodehouse, a man whose political views differed widely from her father’s. Concludes that Arnold and Lord Kimberly, Armine’s father, were kindred spirits intellectually despite their political differences.
