Ten Letters From Mrs. Matthew Arnold to George Smith

Abstract

Prints annotated copies of ten letters sent by Arnold’s widow to George Smith, Arnold’s last publisher. All of the letters were written after Arnold’s death in 1888, and illustrate Frances Lucy Arnold’s attempt to control publication of her husband’s writings.
