Abstract

Argues that the special value of this book lies in Wright’s ability to show the wide-ranging influence of Comte’s ideas on dozens of important political, literary, and scientific figures in the nineteenth century. Notes a number of minor errors, but claims these should be overlooked in a study that has much to offer about the nature of Comte’s impact on his contemporaries.
