Abstract

Penetrating analysis of two thesis-driven books that in Gezari’s view provide distorted readings of novels in order to make them conform to theories espoused by these critics. While both Eagleton and Moglen offer fresh readings of some novels, both studies suffer from a tendency toward reductionism.
